RiverHaven, with its walking-out lower level of our two-story home, can be entered through both an inside (down some stairs) or a convenient outside option. Not only will you be instantly taken by the long-range mountain view, but the sight and sound of the Big Laurel stream below. Plenty of eating space outside, or enjoy the porch swing while taking in the view.
The open kitchen concept will let you prepare meals from a well-equipped kitchen while visiting with family and friends who might be traveling with you. Plenty of eating space at the antique trestle table, or to pull out a board game or puzzle. The book nook provides of reading material including novels, biographies, children's books, and historical information on the area.
Sleeping arrangements in this comfortable space offer a queen bedroom, which can be closed off from the rest of your suite for a restful night of sleep. The gathering area has a recent addition of a queen comfortable Murphy bed to expand your sleeping space.
Don't forget the tiled shower, heated bathroom floor, and on-demand hot water system. This would be an ideal vacation spot for a family with small children or for two adult individuals looking to go on a trip but also have their own space.
Unique Features
The first feature, that really made us decide on these two properties, was without a doubt the view! How can you beat mountains and water all tied into one to be enjoyed from your private patio and deck space? At night gather around the tabletop fire pit while taking in a sky full of stars. Your space and the outside blend together with plenty of casement windows to bring in light, and the sounds of nature to your door step. You can regulate your own heat and air conditioning from the thermostat within your space. Ceiling fans are in the gathering area and bedroom for a good night's sleep. The floor plans were given much thought to creating space that is both functional, and aesthetically pleasing. RiverHaven has everything you need that will make you feel right at home.
We have added a more traditional wood-burning fire pit as well, for those tasty gooey treats that you might remember from past camping days.
Things To Do
Visitors to Madison County have many enjoyable ways in which they can occupy their time in this "Jewel of the Blue Ridge." French Broad Adventures offers zipping, rafting, and canyoneering with well-versed guides. Tubing is yet another option through Hot Springs Rafting, if you are looking for a smoother ride down the French Broad check out rafting and tubing in Hot Springs. Maybe horseback riding with Sandy Bottom Trail Rides or Llama Trekking suits your fancy. The area is most known because of the Appalachian Trail, which makes Hot Springs a very inviting Trail Town. Ready for a river hike? The Laurel River Trail is minutes from RiverDance, where you can enjoy a swimming hole or a picnic by the stream. Head to the River town of Marshall, which is the county seat, and stop at Flows, for some unique treasures. Catch lunch at Zumas, a central gathering place for locals, or stop at Zadies, which once housed the jail, but now has become a popular stopping place. Your suite has a complete book of things to see and do, or you might just want to hang out on the deck

At RiverDance we do have to collect the appropriate state use tax (6.75%) for North Carolina, but we avoid the Tourism Development Tax of 5% since we only have two suites. However, folks like Airbnb and Vrbo automatically collect that tax from you regardless of the number of units under management since it makes their life easier.
There is a $50 charge per dog per stay to pay for the extra cleaning that pets create.
Woohoo! We are offering vacation rental special(s)
Check out our twofer special on our website, where we will reduce the price by 20% if you reserve both SkyView and RiverHaven.
Reviews
Just stayed with Dave and Callie up at River Dance and OMG. My wife and I talked about our stay all the way home (3 1/2 hours) and finally decided upon 3 words to describe our getaway. Quaint – We’ve stayed at both of their airbnb rentals – River Haven and Sky View. Both rental properties were clean, and beautiful, and embraced what you would expect to find in the mountains of NC. The view from the bed in Sky View is absolutely Amazing. Rejuvenating – When you enter the Bear River Lodge property in many ways the stress and craziness of the world get put on hold. Whether you’re sitting on the deck at River Haven drinking morning coffee, hanging in a hammock, or listening to the sounds of Big Laurel River it’s easy to turn off the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Heavenly – I think this word is the most fitting to describe our stay. The mountains, Appalachian trail, Max Patch, Big Pillow brewery, downtown Marshall, and Hot Springs Resort (tub 15) all of which made our stay phenomenal. River Dance will always be our home away from home in the mountains of NC. We can’t wait to come back again- in October.
I think anywhere else we stay from now on will always be compared to RiverDance. I imagine we will say things like, this place is nice, but it is no RiverDance, Danielle B.
Book directly with us and save. Forget about Airbnb, VRBO fees, and tourism taxes. Check out our twofer special where we will reduce the price by 20% if you reserve both SkyView and RiverHaven. Come on in and make yourself at home as you experience your own mountain retreat in the heart of the “Jewel of the Blue Ridge”.
RiverDance, our dream place to call home in the North Carolina mountains, The original timber frame RiverDance was also in Bear River, so we have found our place to settle. Our hosting experience is vast,as close to three thousand groups of people have been drawn to RiverDance’s connection with nature, and as a place to soak in much-needed downtime.
You will deal directly with Callie and Dave, who have created this new, unique space with you in mind. Within your suite, there is a comprehensive binder so you have options of things to see and do, and we are happy to share our favorites.
