  • On a wooded lot in Riverbend at Lake Lure.

Laurelwood Lodge is a spacious four-bedroom, three-bathroom cabin located in the beautifully natural gated community of Riverbend on Lake Lure. The lodge’s 3500 square feet are built for relaxation, with a light-filled common area centered around a cozy fireplace and flat screen tv, open to a fully furnished kitchen, dining table, and an open loft above.

Start your vacation morning with a cup of coffee and views of passing wildlife on one of two large tranquil decks overlooking the woods. Take a break from your day’s activities in the basement game room, with foosball, ping pong, air hockey, or pool. Relax in the evening in the 6 person hot tub on the cabin’s lower deck, grill your favorite meal for dinner, or sit by the firepit with a glass of wine.

Sleeping arrangement: Bring your friends and family! Laurelwood Lodge sleeps 12. The master bedroom has a king bed and direct access to the upper deck, as well as a private bathroom with a large jacuzzi tub. Another main level bedroom offers a queen bed. Two upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom; the first sleeps 5 with a full bed and three twin beds, the second sleeps 3 with a queen bed and twin daybed.

Unique Features

Laurelwood Lodge has been thoughtfully equipped with so much to do! You will have access to a canoe, three kayaks, paddles, and life jackets to use at nearby Mirror Lake, as well as six inner tubes for floating on the river. The rental has been stocked with board games and puzzles, a bowling set, and books. Electronic entertainment includes two TVs with satellite service and an expansive library of DVDs, a Nintendo Gamecube, and a stereo sound system.

Things To Do

There are thousands of acres of natural beauty in the gated community of Riverbend, with 2 lakes, a beach (with restrooms, areas to grill, and a pavilion with seating to enjoy the views), the French Broad River, waterfalls, and a swimming hole. There are hiking trails within the community of Riverbend, and countless hiking opportunities in the area around Lake Lure.

In addition to water sports and hiking in Riverbend and beyond, there are several golf courses in the area. For a thrill, check out Lake Lure Zipline Company, less than 2 miles from the lodge.

There are so many towns to explore in this area, from Henderson and Saluda (both fun, small towns), to Black Mountain (an artsy town) and Asheville (a larger city where the famous Biltmore Estates can be found). For more time in nature, check out Chimney Rock Park, Mount Mitchell, Linville Caverns, and the many waterfalls of Brevard.

Reviews

Perfect getaway! Super host! Sharon King
We enjoyed a relaxing week at this spacious log cabin, with enough room for everyone in our group and all we needed in the kitchen to prepare delicious family meals. We went to the lake in the neighborhood daily, used All Trails to choose 2 different hikes in the area, and visited Asheville one day. The neighborhood is quiet, and the home is nestled in a treed area, adding to the calm. Note: the home comes with 2 sit-ups and 1 sit-in kayak and 1 canoe, and many floats. We brought our own kayaks, but there really wasn't a need. Monica F.
This was a fantastic getaway mountain weekend experience. Loved the secluded area of the cabin, the spaciousness, and the hot tub was awesome on a cold Sunday afternoon. Loretta W.
This cabin was excellent. It comfortably fits my family (9 people). It was a beautiful location and private. It was a quick drive to Chimney Rock state park. Communication with the owner was quick and easy. I will stay here again. Diane D.
Laurelwood is a very comfortable and pleasant cabin for a getaway. Our family of 10 had plenty of room to be together or have privacy if someone wanted to take a nap or read a book. The river and lake offered opportunities for recreation and Kim provided the necessary equipment such as tubes, a canoe, kayaks and life jackets. We enjoyed the firepit every night to unwind and share family time. Cecil T.
