Timber Hollow is a beautiful traditional log cabin tucked away in the quiet woods of the Smoky Mountains. It is the perfect location to get away and unwind. The wooden interior and floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room bring the feeling of the outdoors in and make settling into the comfy couches for a movie night feel like a real treat

A large full kitchen makes cooking meals a breeze even for a large family. Enjoy your meal around the dining table or embrace the great outdoors by eating on the back deck around the outdoor table. A second kitchenette on the lower level makes prepping food for the cabin’s charcoal grill convenient. Everyone can gather around the nearby fire pit while kids can take turns on the swing. A nearby picnic table makes the perfect place to set up a s’more making station!

Sleeping arrangement: There are 2 master suites here with king-sized beds, one on the upper level and the other on the lower level. The main floor has 2 bedrooms that each host 3 guests in a twin over full bunk bed. All three levels of the lodge have a full bathroom available. All together Timber Hollow welcomes 10 guests, and is pet friendly!

Unique Features

The game room is a perfect place to spend some quality time with the family; challenge them to a game of pool or toss the magnetic darts. Up in the loft is another small rec room with a foosball table and a wood-burning fireplace to keep everyone in there nice and toasty! After games, sink into the hot tub and relax. A full washer and dry means bathing suits can be washed and dried and ready to go for the next time!

Things To Do

There are more than just vacation rentals at Buffalo Creek resort. Be sure to check the schedule each day to see when the buffalo feeding is. Guests to the ranch are free to get up close and feed the buffalo that are cared for here. For 25 cents, guests can also feed various barn animals like mini donkeys and goats that also call this place home. Young children can even take a ride on a mini horse! Older kids will enjoy Splatter Forest— a paintball battlefield primed for an epic paintball war.

Swing by the Buffalo Creek gift shop before you head out to explore nearby attractions. Buffalo Creek has partnered with some local places to provide guests with pre-purchased ticket options and discounts! Be sure to grab a souvenir while there!

Nearby towns of Waynesville, Clyde, and Maggie Valley offer lots of places to shop and dine out, and with the Great Smoky Mountain National Park just a stone’s throw away, you’ll want to stop there too. A ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroads is an unforgettable experience!

Reviews

Excellent cabin! Great customer service! It was very quiet and secluded but still reasonably close to Asheville, Maggie Valley, and Cherokee. We went to watch the Bison get feed, definitely a must! Cheryl even provided a small amount of firewood, perfect for an evening or two of Smores. The game room was great, the kids loved it. The hot tub was very relaxing, just make sure to check the temp as soon as you get there. It is cleaned and refilled after every stay so the temp is most likely adjusted down. The playground is neatly tucked away in the woods just down from the top of a hill. It is a good play area and the hike was not too bad. I’m pretty sure the OLDER KIDS (adults) enjoyed the scenery more. Will certainly be back! Joan Taylor, SC
We wanted to experience something with our seven-year old that would be exciting and unique for all three of us, and this fit the bill perfectly! Cheryl was always right on it with answers to our questions, the caboose was as cool as I’d hoped, the details are perfect, it’s a super cozy luxe suite with a loft our son adored, we all loved seeing the grazing buffalo right outside and the animals including llamas just a short walk away! I would highly Recommend the caboose for a unique adventure and fun for all! Theresa S., August 2016
My husband and I and our two children, (11 and 13-year-olds) stayed here with our two dogs for our winter break from school. We all fell in love with the cabin the minute we saw it. We did a lot of skiing in Maggie Valley and it was only a 15-20 minute drive there each day. We got very lucky and there was a lot of real snow the week we were there. It was beautiful. We all enjoyed coming back to the cabin and my son and husband would build a big fire to relax after a long day of skiing. My daughter and I enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub as well. My kid’s favorite thing was definitely the animals. They would make sure we got change every day before leaving Maggie Valley so they could get food for the animals out of the little machines and feed them each day. Cheryl and her family were all very helpful with any and all questions we had. We lost water for just a short time one afternoon but someone was out within a few minutes of reporting the issue. It was due to the extremely cold temps but was fixed immediately. We were very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone. We definitely plan to return, my daughter asked if we could move there. — Rhonda from Georgia
Cheryl was very helpful when we booked the vacation, answering all our questions. When we arrived our two young kids didn’t want to leave the cabin at first (the game room was great, and even has a pet cage if you bring four legged family members) but we finally got them to head up to the feeding coral and watched the bison eat breakfast, then they fed the goats and mini horses before the short hike up the hill to the fun playground. The setting is very rustic and peaceful, with good views and a very smoky mountain feel. The staff was friendly and helpful.

About the Owner/Manager

Buffalo Creek Vacations is a family owned & operated business. Our dad, along w/ our mom, Harriet Clackett, made the move to the beautiful Smoky Mountains in 1994. We all just fell in love with the area & all that it has to offer from hiking & waterfalls in the summer to the beautiful foliage in the fall, skiing in the winter & new baby bison being born in the springtime.

We also purchased several cabooses that were relocated to the property & we renovated them and started renting them out! We hope you love the mountains like we have all come to!
