Climb aboard this special caboose-turned lodge! This fun train and railroad-themed vacation rental is sure to put a smile on all its visitor’s faces, no matter their age! Inside the railcar is a full kitchen and a living room with a satellite TV to enjoy. A second TV is available in another room down the hall.
Be sure to glance out the windows every so often though. You just might catch a glimpse of the bison that roam the neighboring fields! You never have to worry about being comfortable during your stay. Just adjust the heating and air system to your liking. Being in the mountains means you’ll want to spend some time outdoors taking in that fresh mountain air. This makes the large deck attached to the gray caboose a perfect spot to cook up your meal on the charcoal grill!
Everyone can enjoy the fire pit while waiting for lunch to be served up. After eating, it is just a short walk to the playground. Kids can scale a rock climbing wall, swing from monkey bars, or sail through the air on the zipline.
Sleeping arrangement: This surprisingly spacious cabin sleeps 5 guests. A queen-sized bed in the back bedroom provides sleeping arrangements for 2 adults. 2 children will enjoy climbing up into the loft to sleep in the cupola that hosts a full-size bed. Another person will be able to settle into a twin-sized sleeper sofa in the living room.
Get ready in a full bathroom each morning and turn on the heated tile floor to help keep you warm! Linens and towels are provided here so don’t worry about these things taking up space in your luggage. Instead, remember to pack your furry friend’s kibble. Pets are welcome to visit and enjoy the mountain cabin retreat!
You don’t have to go very far to find lots of activities to do. Right on Buffalo Creek resort is Agapeland Station. Here visitors can see a 30x50 model train displaying how railroads service America. Children are encouraged to take part in the railroad-themed scavenger hunt and win a free prize at the end! Kids are also able to go for a ride on a mini horse on the main ranch or feed and brush a mini donkey. Older kids will enjoy getting messy on the paintball arena called Splatter Forest.
There are a lot of things to do outside of Buffalo Creek too. Apple picking is a family favorite in the fall, and in the summer near Lake Junaluska is a hotspot for canoes and paddle boards. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is nearby as well and offers many trails to hike on. If you want to keep with the train theme on your vacation, be sure to book a ticket for the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad and ride the tracks through the beautiful terrain.

his place was awesome. The Caboose was so much fun to stay in. My 4 year old son loved the copula and looking out the windows at the Bison. The property is great too – we loved hiking to the playground. Must hike up to the tire swing and tether ball too – so worth it! You don’t find tire swings like that any more

Buffalo Creek Vacations is a family owned & operated business. Our dad, along w/ our mom, Harriet Clackett, made the move to the beautiful Smoky Mountains in 1994. We all just fell in love with the area & all that it has to offer from hiking & waterfalls in the summer to the beautiful foliage in the fall, skiing in the winter & new baby bison being born in the springtime.
We also purchased several cabooses that were relocated to the property & we renovated them and started renting them out! We hope you love the mountains like we have all come to!
