Hare Pin Inn is a cozy and whimsical home-away-from-home, perfect for a weekend in the Great Smoky Mountains! Even though this place is tucked away in the beautiful Buffalo Creek resort, this cabin’s bright red exterior is hard to miss! The cheery color is predominant throughout the lodge, and if you look closely at the décor, you’ll spot rabbits that match the cabin’s namesake!
It is unlikely you will be spending much time inside though with the gorgeous long-range mountain views right outside the door. You can even cook outside on the large charcoal grill and picnic at the patio table!
Spend the day exploring the great outdoors then sink into the hot tub to soothe your tired muscles. After a soak, end the night with your favorite TV show or movie by the wood-burning fireplace.
Sleeping arrangement: This unique cottage is great for a single-family rental. It comfortably sleeps 4 to 6 guests in its 2 bedroom layout. The master suite has a queen-sized bed and shares one full bathroom with the second bedroom across the way. This bedroom has 2 twin beds. If more beds are needed, the sofa in the living room pulls out into a queen-size sleeper providing a comfortable place for 2 more people to lay their heads.
Good news! Your fur baby is welcomed here and even has a big fenced-in backyard for them to run around in, so pack up your loyal sidekick! They are sure to love the fresh mountain air and accompanying you on your hikes. A full-sized washer and dryer will ensure any clothes that get dirty on your mountain adventure can be cleaned up while you roast marshmallows over the firepit!
Even on rainy days, you can spot a piece of blue sky here at the Hare Pin Inn. Just step out onto the covered front porch and look up! The porch’s ceiling has been painted to resemble a blue sky with fluffy white clouds!
If you are up for a hike, you can walk the 3 miles down to the main ranch where all the action is on the Buffalo Creek resort. Challenge another visitor to a game of chess in the community game room or grab some feed from the gift shop and meet firsthand the animals that call this place home! There is a playground for the younger kids and a paintball field for the older kids.
Outside of Buffalo Creek, there are endless opportunities for making memories, no matter the season. In the fall, go apple picking. In the winter, skiing and snow tubing is a must! Spring and summer in the Great Smoky Mountains provide great weather for horseback riding, hiking to waterfalls, or swimming in any of the local swimming holes. The nearby towns of Waynesville, Clyde, and Maggie Valley have great places to dine and shop.
There is truly something for everyone here to enjoy!

Buffalo Creek Vacations is a family owned & operated business. Our dad, along w/ our mom, Harriet Clackett, made the move to the beautiful Smoky Mountains in 1994. We all just fell in love with the area & all that it has to offer from hiking & waterfalls in the summer to the beautiful foliage in the fall, skiing in the winter & new baby bison being born in the springtime.
We also purchased several cabooses that were relocated to the property & we renovated them and started renting them out! We hope you love the mountains like we have all come to!
